Please see below information regarding the Cyclists badge event being organised by our District Cubs.

Date:                     Sunday 9th March

Time:                     Morning session 10.30am to 12.30pm

Afternoon session  1.30pm to 3.30pm

Venue:                 Lake Meadows Park by the boxing club (opposite side of the park to the main car park)

Cost:                      £1 per cub to cover the badge and materials

Each session will include the following bases:

  1. Bike maintenance session to include clean and oil bike, pump up tyres and change tyre to include learning the need to keep bike in road worthy condition -  to be run by a cycle shop and volunteer leaders (30 minutes)
  2. Police to come along to security mark bikes and advise on keeping bikes locked (30 minutes)
  3. Bike operation test: mount and dismount properly and go for a short ride including a cycle agility timed course competition (30 minutes)
  4. Make a poster about road safety for pedestrians and cyclists, while discussing with leader safety measures for riding in poor weather conditions and wearing high visibility safety clothing (30 minutes)

There will be a morning and afternoon session, so please specify which session you would prefer. Graham and/or Lawrence will be there for one of the sessions although we’re not sure yet which they will be able to attend, so please also specify whether you are able to attend with your child. Parents are more than welcome to attend anyway but need to come along if your child is attending a session where our leaders are not able to be present.

If you would like to come along please complete the form on the attached letter and return it Graham or Lawrence as soon as possible. If you can at the very least indicate to Graham or Lawrence at tomorrow’s Cubs session if you will be coming along we can confirm with the District that we will be there, even if we cannot confirm numbers.

They will be also needing some help to run bases, so if you are willing and able to help please also let Graham or Lawrence know.
